This weeks crime report

Aug. 12

At 1 p.m., Officer Marcotte initiated a traffic stop in the 5200 block of Spruce Street on a Nissan Altima for not having a front plate and driving the wrong way on a one-way street. The driver was found to have Houston Municipal warrants, to be a documented gang member, and was carrying a handgun under his seat. He was arrested for unlawful carry of a weapon.

At 5:10 p.m., Officer Bailey responded to an attempted burglary of habitation call located in the 4800 block of Beech Street. Two unknown Hispanic Males used a distraction technique by having the victim walk to the back yard and the second suspect made entry into the residence. The care giver confronted the suspect and he exited out of the front door without taking anything.

At 2 p.m., two black male suspects forced entry into a vehicle located in the parking lot at 5130 Bellaire Blvd. and removed a black leather back pack. The suspects left in a black Infinity SUV.

At 8:45 p.m., Officer Bailey was dispatched to the 4800 block of Palmetto in regards to a burglary of a motor vehicle. An unknown suspect used an unknown type of tool to smash the right front passenger window of the victim’s SUV.

At 5:07 p.m., Officer M. Santillanes was dispatched to the 900 block of Mulberry in reference to a theft call. Officer M. Santillanes met with the reportee who advised an unknown suspect stole the victim’s gas powered saw from his truck.

At 4:38 p.m., Officer M. Santillanes was advised of a Texas license plate lying in the parking lot in the 4800 block of Bissonnet. Upon further investigation the license plate was found to be that of a stolen vehicle. Officer Santillanes recovered the license plate and completed a recovery of stolen property report.

Aug. 13

At 1:29 p.m., officers met with the victim in the lobby of the police station regarding unauthorized access to his iPad computer tablet in the 4800 block of Saxon Street. Upon further investigation, the incident was determined to be a theft and harassment case. Officer Baylis took the report and filed charges on the suspect.

Aug. 16

At noon, Officer Liccketto was dispatched to 5002 Walgreens at 5002 Bellaire Blvd. in reference to a shoplifting. The suspect took a pair of headphones, exited the store without paying, and walked in a restaurant. The suspect was found and arrested for theft and transported to the Bellaire Police Department for booking and processing.

At 2:49 p.m., Officer M. Santillanes was dispatched to the Bellaire Police Department lobby for a child endangerment call in the 1100 block of Howard Lane. Officer Santillanes met with the reportee who stated on July 24 at 2:52 p.m., the stepfather picked up his minor children and transported them without car seats. Officer Santillanes completed a report.

Aug. 17

At 8:53 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 5600 block of IH 610 West Loop South for a minor vehicle accident. The driver of the at-fault vehicle was found to be driving on a suspended license with no insurance. Officer Baylis arrested the driver for driving while license invalid with prior convictions.

Aug. 18

At 2:06 a.m., Officer Ortega was dispatched to a citizen following an intoxicated driver in the 4600 block of Bellaire Boulevard eastbound. Officer Bellard located the suspect’s vehicle and observed the suspect’s vehicle to strike the curb and fail to maintain a single lane by crossing the intermittently striped white lines designating the lanes of travel. Officer Ortega made contact and upon further investigation, the driver was placed into custody for driving while intoxicated. Officer Ortega is the reporting Officer in this case.
