Small Business Initiative Store #3

Today’s small business just opened.  I didn’t know it was even there.  I guess Lenny’s Subs could have used our support because it seems they have closed and this opened in its place.  I parked and got out and it smelled so good I stayed and ate lunch.  This is casual Chinese food where every entree is $8.00  I couldn’t even finish eating the whole plate.  You can definitely share one with two people.

Thinking you are safe when in reality you are not is VERY dangerous.

Everyone wants to feel safe and secure.  A smoke detector is like the Police.  Both are there, in the background, waiting to be used.  imagesBoth in your rgmind work perfectly and will never fail you.  Did you know you are supposed to change the battery yearly?  What if the battery is dead, are you still safe and secure?  If you never check the battery and ten years later you find out that the smoke detector was worthless, did you have a great, working smoke detector?

Just because you think you have a great, working smoke detector, does not mean it is actually working!  Do you really want to wait until your house is on fire to make sure the battery is fresh and charged?  Sometimes you need to open the case and just make sure there is a battery and then push the test button to make sure it works.  Lets make sure that The City of Bellaire has working fire detectors and we do not wait until your house is on fire to see that the battery has really been dead for years.

Start of the Small Business Initiative Store #1

As a small business owner I know how hard it can be to try to survive and make a living.  I think that Bellaire should focus more on helping the small business owner then worrying what to do with the “Commercial District”  As I am out campaigning my goal is to physically go into every business and introduce myself and ask for their support.  Each day I will post the newest supporter for Kevin Newman for Bellaire City Council.

Did you read the Houston Chronicle article about the candidates?

I was interviewed for the article weeks ago and actually found it online by accident.  It seems that some candidates gave the standard answers and a few, including myself, gave a more realistic reply.  I would say that 90% of what the article said was correct, but overall I feel it represented what I wanted to say.
